Life
My name is Matt Bango and by day I am a 25 year old Designer & Developer working at Chartbeat in New York City. When I'm not at work or working on my own projects, I'll more than likely be found outside looking up at the sky, peering into the limbs of a tree or scanning along the edge of the shore for the chance to see some great birds.
I received my first camera for Christmas in 2005 and it opened up a new world to me. Seeing the world through a lens was something I had never experienced and something I immediately fell in love with. I love creating photographs, it doesn't matter what the subject is, but I have become obsessed with the natural world. Watching a Peregrine Falcon dive through the air at 200+ miles-per-hour or standing at the top of a 14,000 foot mountain is something you have to see in person to appreciate. Hopefully my photographs will share with you some of the amazing places and animals that I have seen and have been lucky enough to capture "on film".
Equipment
Many of the photos you see on this site were taken with a modest Nikon setup (and a little 300mm f/4 lens), but I've recently switched to Canon. Not surprisingly, most of the emails I receive are questions about equipment. The simple truth is that you don't need to spend thousands of dollars to start taking beautiful photographs. Use what you have and you can create some beautiful pieces, I even use my iPhone when I don't have my SLR. Here is a list of the gear that currently I use:
- Canon 7D
- Canon 600mm f/4L IS
- Canon EF 1.4X II Extender
- Wimberley WH-200 Tripod Head
- Gitzo 1325 Tripod Legs
